About the city
Airola is a town in the province of Benevento, in Campania, set in the Caudine valley, between Benevento and the metropolitan area of Naples. With just over 7,000 inhabitants, it is a municipality of agricultural and historical tradition in the Campanian interior, in an area of gentle relief among the southern Apennines. Airola was recognised by ACES Europe as European Town of Sport 2018, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants that rewards local sports policy as a tool of cohesion and public health. The recognition places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network, one of the largest in Europe.
