A continent united by sport
American Week of Sport
The American Week of Sport (AWoS) is the continent's largest campaign promoting sport and physical activity. Driven by ACES with the support of the OAS, CADE, CID and a wide network of national and local allies — such as Fedemunicipios in Colombia, the Dominican Municipal League, Vías Recreativas and the Network of Latin American Cities for Sport and Development —, every September it mobilises millions of people under a single motto: #ActivateAmerica.
Growing non-stop since 2023
The first edition, in 2023, spanned 13 countries and 41 cities, with 320 events and two million participants.
We are thrilled with the overwhelming success of the inaugural American Week of Sport. This event has not only highlighted the passion for sport, but also strengthened the bonds between nations. It is a testament to the positive impact sport can have in fostering global unity.
Since then, every edition has surpassed the previous one in cities, events and participants.

From major cities such as Buenos Aires, Santiago, Guadalajara and San Juan to cities like Rosario, Manta, León and Puntarenas, the celebration was lived intensely across the continent. Valle del Cauca (Colombia) was the region with the highest participation, and Zapopan (Mexico) hosted the official opening.
The leading cities of 2025
Zapopan, Mexico (Jalisco)
With 238 events, it was the city with the highest number of registered events in 2025 — a reflection of solid organisational capacity and sustained community mobilisation.
León, Mexico (Guanajuato)
205 events and 191 activities — 396 in total — with 1,455,347 participants, consolidating León as one of the continent's great benchmarks in reach and impact.
Cali, Colombia (Valle del Cauca)
43 events and 1,037 activities — 1,080 in total — with 931,301 participants, standing out for the breadth of its community actions and its convening power.
The impact was not exclusive to large cities: Belén (Costa Rica) organised 163 events with 59,093 participants, and Puerto Madryn (Argentina) added 114 events and activities with 47,624 participants — commitment to sport depends not on size, but on local leadership.
