How to submit a candidacy?

The first step is to send a letter of intent from the mayor of the city wishing to apply to acesamerica@acesamerica.org or acesamerica@aces-europa.eu.

Once the candidacy is confirmed, ACES begins the official procedure:

  1. Official documents
  2. Payment of fees
  3. Submission of the BID File (candidacy dossier)
  4. Planning and a city visit by the evaluation committee
  5. If the city achieves the required score, it receives the award at a ceremony at UNESCO headquarters

Obligations of the awarded city

  • Responsibility towards the award achieved throughout the year
  • Respect for the image guidelines
  • Design of a sports calendar with activities promoting health, wellbeing and community life
  • Organisation of an international congress and/or sports competition
  • A report and results once the year is over
