Assago is a town in the metropolitan city of Milan, in Lombardy, located on the southern outskirts of the greater Milan metropolitan area. With just under 8,000 inhabitants, it is a municipality of strong service-sector weight, famous for housing the Forum di Assago, one of the largest indoor arenas in Italy, a regular venue for major concerts and sporting events, especially basketball. Assago was recognised by ACES Europe as European Town of Sport 2014, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants, which places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
