Bogliasco

Liguria, Italy

About the city

Bogliasco is a municipality in the metropolitan city of Genoa, in Liguria, the first on the Golfo Paradiso when leaving Genoa towards the Riviera di Levante, set in a small cove at the mouth of the stream of the same name. Its landscape alternates beaches and cliffs with a hinterland of olive terraces and peaks such as Monte Cordona (803 m), and it preserves a single-arch 13th-century bridge near the river mouth. It has a strong water polo tradition: Rari Nantes Bogliasco, founded in 1951 and now called Bogliasco 1951, won the Italian men's championship in 1981. Its territory is also home to the Gloriano Mugnaini sports centre, used by UC Sampdoria as its training ground. Bogliasco has been designated European Town of Sport 2027, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants, which places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
