About the city

Busto Arsizio is the most populous city in the Province of Varese, located in its south-eastern corner, 35 kilometres north of Milan. With around 83,000 inhabitants, it is one of the main industrial hubs of northern Lombardy, heir to a centuries-old textile tradition that shaped its urban fabric and business environment. The city boasts a rich architectural heritage, including the Basilica di San Giovanni Battista and the Basilica di Santa Maria di Piazza, testament to its historical prominence as a commercial and craft centre.

In the sporting sphere, Busto Arsizio enjoys international recognition thanks to women's volleyball: Unieuro Volley—formerly E-Work—has consistently competed at the European elite level. ACES Europe awarded it the title of European City of Sport 2023, recognising the city's comprehensive sports system, its modern facilities—including the E-Work Arena—its vibrant associative ecosystem, and its vocation for sport as a tool of social integration and improved quality of urban life.
