About the city

Busto Garolfo is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Milan, in Lombardy, set in the Po Valley west of Milan and crossed by the Villoresi canal. With just over 13,000 inhabitants, it is first documented in the year 992, and its territory is part of the Parco del Roccolo, a protected area of farmland and woods that it shares with five other municipalities. Its municipal sports centre is named after the fencer Roberto Battaglia, an Olympic medallist at the Helsinki Games, and houses the ground of Bustese Calcio, the main local football club, founded in 1946, together with a velodrome. There, the Società Ciclistica Busto Garolfo stages the 'Tre Sere' track race every year. Busto Garolfo has been designated European Town of Sport 2029, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants that will place it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
