About the city
Calima, officially Calima-El Darién, is a municipality in north-central Valle del Cauca whose centrepiece is the Calima reservoir, an artificial lake ranked among Latin America's top sailing and windsurfing destinations. The territory holds the legacy of the Calima culture, one of Colombia's most important pre-Columbian civilisations, whose goldwork is admired in museums worldwide. Its strong winds and natural setting make the municipality a magnet for water sports and ecotourism.
