Cernusco sul Naviglio is a city in the metropolitan city of Milan, in Lombardy, located north-east of the Lombard capital, beside the Naviglio della Martesana, one of the historic navigable canals of the Milan area. With some 29,000 inhabitants, it is a residential municipality of the first metropolitan ring, well connected with Milan and with a setting that combines the canal, its parks and green areas. The Naviglio, with its cycle path, favours cycling and walking. Cernusco sul Naviglio was recognised by ACES Europe as European City of Sport 2020, a title that places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
