About the city

Chianciano Terme is a town in the province of Siena, in Tuscany, located in the hills of the Val di Chiana, near the border with Umbria, in the south of the region. With just over 6,000 inhabitants, it is famous for its thermal baths, one of the best-known spa complexes in Italy, in a setting of gentle Tuscan hills of great scenic beauty. Its hilly geography favours hiking, cycling and outdoor activities. Chianciano Terme was recognised by ACES Europe as European Town of Sport 2019, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants, which places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
