About the city

Cremona is a city in Lombardy, capital of its province, located on the left bank of the river Po, on the Po plain. It is famous worldwide as the city of violin-making: here worked the great masters of the violin — Amati, Stradivari and Guarneri — and its tradition of making stringed instruments is recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. With more than 71,000 inhabitants, it preserves a notable heritage, with the Torrazzo, one of the tallest brick bell towers in Europe.
