About the city
Dosquebradas is the second most populous municipality in the department of Risaralda, with approximately 225,000 inhabitants, and together with Pereira forms the main conurbation of the Coffee Region. Connected to the Risaralda capital via the César Gaviria Trujillo Viaduct, Dosquebradas is distinguished by its industrial and manufacturing profile — it concentrates the largest number of companies in the department — and by a civic culture in which physical activity and sport have come to occupy a central place on the municipal agenda. Its subtropical mountain climate, with an average temperature of 21°C, favors outdoor sports practice year-round.
On the sporting front, Dosquebradas has led a remarkable process of institutionalizing physical activity as public policy: it was champion of the Risaralda Departmental and Para-Departmental Games in 2023 and 2025, received recognition from Colombia's Ministry of Sport for its Active Routes program — which mobilizes over 10,000 people weekly — and inaugurated in 2025 the largest recreational-sports park in the department. Its participation in ACES Activa is consistent with this trajectory of regional sporting leadership.
