About the city

Finale Ligure is a municipality in the Province of Savona, Liguria, situated on the Gulf of Genoa along the Riviera Ligure di Ponente. With approximately 11,000 inhabitants, the town is made up of three nuclei with their own identities: Finalborgo—an extraordinary walled medieval centre—Finalpia, and Finalmarina, which overlook the Mediterranean Sea with fine sandy beaches and a busy seafront promenade. The proximity to the Rock of Caprazoppa, an imposing limestone monolith at the south-western edge, frames a landscape of notable natural beauty that has turned the town into one of the most prized tourist destinations of western Liguria.

In the sporting sphere, Finale Ligure has gained international recognition as a global epicentre of rock climbing: the limestone walls of the Finale sector offer thousands of routes for all levels, attracting professional and amateur climbers from across Europe. The town is also a reference destination for downhill mountain biking, with technical trails exploiting the rugged relief of the hinterland. This combination of elite sport and active tourism has positioned Finale Ligure as a model of sustainable use of the natural environment for sport promotion and economic development of the territory.
