About the city
Fondi is a city in the province of Latina, in Lazio, located on a plain between the Ausoni and Aurunci mountains and the Tyrrhenian coast, halfway between Rome and Naples. With almost 40,000 inhabitants, it is an important agricultural and market centre — its MOF is one of the largest fruit-and-vegetable markets in Europe — with a notable medieval old town dominated by its castle. Beside the eponymous lake and the coast, its setting favours outdoor activities. Fondi was recognised by ACES Europe as European City of Sport 2023, a title that places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
