About the city
Giaveno is a town in the metropolitan city of Turin, in Piedmont, located at the entrance to the Susa Valley, at the foot of the Cottian Alps, west of the regional capital. With just over 11,000 inhabitants, it is a mountain municipality of agricultural and commercial tradition, famous for its mushrooms and for being a gateway to the mountains of the valley. Its Alpine setting favours hiking, mountain biking and outdoor activities. Giaveno was recognised by ACES Europe as European Town of Sport 2013, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants, which places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
