About the city
Jesi is a city in the province of Ancona, in the Marche, located in the valley of the river Esino, in the interior of the region, in an area of vineyard hills famous for Verdicchio wine. With almost 37,000 inhabitants, it preserves a notable historic centre surrounded by medieval walls and is the birthplace of Emperor Frederick II of Hohenstaufen. In sport it stands out for fencing, a discipline in which it has produced great Olympic champions. Jesi was recognised by ACES Europe as European City of Sport 2014, a title that places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
