About the city
La Celia is a municipality in the department of Risaralda located on the Western Slope, 67 kilometers from Pereira, at an altitude of 1,480 meters above sea level. Established as a municipality on November 30, 1959, it has approximately 8,300 inhabitants and an economy based primarily on coffee and agricultural production. Its temperate climate, with an average temperature of 18°C, and its natural environment of forests and mountains shape a rural territory with a strong community identity characteristic of small coffee-growing municipalities in western Colombia.
Despite its small size, La Celia actively participates in the sporting and recreational dynamics of the department of Risaralda, with community programs that promote physical activity as a tool for social cohesion and well-being. Its presence in the ACES Activa program reflects the territorial reach of sports policies in rural municipalities, where sport becomes an articulating axis of community life and a factor of integral development.
