About the city
La Maddalena is a town in the province of Sassari, in Sardinia, located on the eponymous island, the main one of the La Maddalena archipelago, off the north-east coast of Sardinia, in the Strait of Bonifacio, very close to Corsica. With just over 10,000 inhabitants, its territory is a marine national park famous for its crystal-clear waters, coves and beaches, one of the great sailing destinations of the Mediterranean. The sea is its great space for sailing, diving and water sports. La Maddalena was recognised by ACES Europe as European Island of Sport 2025, an ACES network title for island territories, which places it within the broad Italian representation of the network.
