About the city

Marsella is a municipality in the department of Risaralda located 33 kilometers north of Pereira, at an average altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level. Founded in 1860 under the name Villa Rica de Segovia and renamed Marsella on April 8, 1915, the municipality is known as 'The Garden of Colombia' for its notable bahareque architectural heritage and the floral ornamentation of its streets and buildings. With approximately 17,200 inhabitants and an economy based on coffee growing and agriculture, Marsella represents one of the most emblematic examples of the paisa cultural identity of the Coffee Region.

In the sphere of physical activity and sport, Marsella develops community programs that respond to the characteristics of its population and the tradition of a compact municipality with strong social cohesion.
