Modena is a city in Emilia-Romagna, in northern Italy, on the Po plain, famous worldwide for its heritage and tradition. It is the cradle of the sports-car industry — home of Ferrari in nearby Maranello, Maserati and Pagani — the homeland of tenor Luciano Pavarotti and of balsamic vinegar, and its Romanesque cathedral and the Ghirlandina Tower are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With more than 184,000 inhabitants, it is a prosperous city combining industry, culture and gastronomy.
