About the city

Molfetta is a port city in the province of Bari, in Apulia, facing the Adriatic Sea on the region's northern coast. With almost 60,000 inhabitants, it has a long seafaring and fishing tradition — its fleet is one of the most important in the southern Adriatic — and an old town overlooking the harbour, with the old cathedral of San Corrado as its emblem. Its maritime vocation and coastal front link it to water sports and the outdoor activities of the Apulian coast. Molfetta was recognised by ACES Europe as European City of Sport 2016, a title that places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
