About the city

Mollet del Vallès is a city in the comarca of Vallès Oriental, in the province of Barcelona, some 25 kilometres from the centre of the Catalan capital and about 10 from Granollers. With some 52,000 inhabitants, it combines its urban core with the rural area of Gallecs, covering more than 700 hectares, where organic farming and nature trails are promoted, and with cultural venues such as the Joan Abelló Museum, opened in 1999. Its most distinctive sports facility is the shooting range that hosted the Olympic shooting events of the Barcelona 1992 Games, next to the Public Security Institute of Catalonia, complemented by the Ca n'Arimon sports complex. Its commitment to healthy habits earned it second prize in the city category of the EU Health Award 2020, for a healthy-eating programme aimed at schoolchildren. Mollet del Vallès was recognised by ACES Europe as European City of Sport 2017, a title that places it within the Spanish representation of the ACES network.
