About the city
Montegrotto Terme is a town in the province of Padua, in the Veneto, located in the Euganean Hills, the hills of volcanic origin south-west of Padua. With just over 10,000 inhabitants, it forms part, together with neighbouring Abano Terme, of one of the largest spa complexes in Europe, famous for its waters and therapeutic mud since Roman times. Its setting of thermal hills favours hiking and cycling. Montegrotto Terme was recognised by ACES Europe as European Town of Sport 2020, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants, which places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
