About the city
Perros-Guirec is a coastal town in the Côtes-d'Armor department, in Brittany, facing the English Channel in the heart of the Pink Granite Coast, whose erosion-sculpted rocks are its defining feature. With more than 7,000 inhabitants, it grew as a seaside resort from the late 19th century and includes the harbour of Ploumanac'h, the Mean Ruz lighthouse and the customs officers' path, a walk of some 9 kilometres there and back through granite boulder fields opposite the Sept-Îles nature reserve. Its sporting life looks to the sea, with surfing on Trestraou beach, sailing and kitesurfing, and the town has been a stopover of the Solitaire du Figaro on numerous occasions and the start of stage 2 of the 2021 Tour de France. Its Kerabram sports complex is listed as a Games Preparation Centre and served as base camp for one of the teams at the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Perros-Guirec was recognised by ACES Europe as European Town of Sport 2025, an award presented in December 2024 at the European Parliament in Brussels, which places it within the French representation of the ACES network.
