Prato is a city in Tuscany, capital of its province, the second most populous city in the region after Florence, to which it is very close, in the plain of the river Bisenzio. With almost 195,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest textile districts in Europe, with a long tradition in the fabric industry and a notable multicultural community. It preserves a medieval historic centre with its Emperor's Castle and its cathedral. Its setting favours cycling and outdoor activities. Prato was recognised by ACES Europe as European City of Sport 2014, a title that places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
