Recco is a coastal town in the metropolitan city of Genoa, in Liguria, on the Riviera di Levante, famous throughout Italy as the gastronomic capital of focaccia col formaggio, the cheese-filled focaccia that is its most famous product. With just under 10,000 inhabitants, it is best known in the sports world for water polo: Pro Recco is the most decorated club in the history of Italian and European water polo, with numerous national and continental titles. Recco was recognised by ACES Europe as European Town of Sport 2022, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants, which places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
