Rimini is a city in Emilia-Romagna facing the Adriatic Sea, the undisputed capital of the Romagna Riviera and one of Europe's great beach-tourism destinations, with a very long stretch of sand and a dense offer of hotels and leisure. Of Roman origin — it preserves the Arch of Augustus and the Tiberius Bridge — it is also the birthplace of the filmmaker Federico Fellini. With almost 150,000 inhabitants, its life revolves around the sea, tourism and intense outdoor activity on its coast. Rimini was recognised by ACES Europe as European City of Sport 2008, a title that places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
