San Luis Potosí is the capital of the eponymous state, situated at 1,864 metres above sea level on Mexico's central plateau, with a population of approximately 824,000 in the city and more than 1.2 million in its metropolitan area. On the sporting front, it is home to Club Atlético de San Luis in Liga MX and has the distinction of having hosted matches at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. The city combines a strong cultural and industrial tradition with a growing commitment to citizen sport and physical activity as cornerstones of quality of life.
