About the city

Querétaro — officially Santiago de Querétaro — is the capital of the eponymous state and one of Mexico's most dynamically growing cities, with a population of approximately 900,000 in the city and more than 1.4 million in its metropolitan area. Its historic city centre was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 and features outstanding colonial architecture coexisting with a world-class aerospace and technology business ecosystem. On the sporting side, the city is home to Club Querétaro FC in Liga MX and the Estadio La Corregidora, which holds 33,000 spectators. Sports provision for citizens is complemented by numerous municipal sports units, an expanding cycling infrastructure and a growing urban sport culture that has gained significant visibility in recent years.
