About the city
Segni is a town in the metropolitan city of Rome, in Lazio, located atop a hill of the Lepini Mountains, south-east of the capital. Of very ancient origin — the ancient Signia — it preserves notable pre-Roman cyclopean walls, an impressive walled enclosure of great stone blocks that ranks among the best preserved in Lazio. With just over 6,000 inhabitants, it is a mountain municipality of strong historical character. Its setting of hills favours hiking and outdoor activities. Segni was recognised by ACES Europe as European Town of Sport 2021, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants, which places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
