About the city
Seregno is a city of the Lombard Brianza, located in the Province of Monza e della Brianza approximately 20 kilometres north of Milan. With around 45,000 inhabitants, it forms an important residential and industrial hub of the Milanese metropolitan area, embedded in one of Italy's most business-dense zones. The city has seen notable urban development in recent decades, with investments in cultural, educational, and sports facilities that have established it as a reference point in the civic fabric of the Brianza.
In the sporting arena, ACES Europe distinguished Seregno as European City of Sport 2025, recognising its well-structured sports programme, the wide variety of activities for citizens of all ages, and its vocation for sport as a tool of well-being, integration, and social growth. The city has a solid cycling tradition—Ciclística Seregno has roots dating back to 1977—as well as in disciplines such as basketball, football, and artistic gymnastics. Throughout 2025, Seregno hosted numerous cycling competitions, basketball tournaments, and inclusive sports activities for people with reduced mobility.
