About the city

Tallinn, Estonia's capital on the shores of the Baltic, is the European Capital of Sport 2025. Its title year was designed as a stadium track with twelve lanes: each month devoted to a different sport, from skiing in January to disc golf in December, with every event in the main programme free and open to all ages. The city backed the title with substance: more than twenty international competitions in 2025 — from the European Figure Skating Championships to IRONMAN Tallinn and the 57th International Children's Games — a full renovation of Kadriorg Stadium, and a plan to open public sports facilities across all eight city districts. The mayor summed up the project's philosophy: not one-off glamorous events that are over in a flash, but lasting value that helps residents live more active, healthier lives.
