Treviso is a city in the Veneto, capital of its province, located north of Venice, in the Veneto plain crossed by the river Sile and numerous canals that run through its old town. With almost 86,000 inhabitants, it preserves an elegant walled historic centre of medieval origin, with arcaded streets and watercourses. It is home to well-known international companies and famous for its gastronomy, with radicchio and tiramisu, which according to tradition was born in the city. In sport it stands out for basketball and rugby. Treviso was recognised by ACES Europe as European City of Sport 2011, a title that places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
