About the city

Tuluá, known as the 'Heart of the Valle', is the fourth most important city in the Valle del Cauca department and a strategic hub for commerce, industry and health services in the centre of the region. Officially founded on 24 August 1639, the city developed driven by the sugar agro-industry and the presence of multinational companies such as Nestlé, Colombina and Levapán, which gave it a solid economic base and a growing urban middle class.

On the cultural and sporting front, Tuluá is distinguished by its tradition in Colombian salsa and by hosting Club Deportivo Cortuluá, one of the historic teams in national football. The city has diverse sports infrastructure and an active citizenry that participates notably in physical activity and community sport events — factors that have driven its integration into the ACES América programme as an Active City.
