About the city

Varallo is a town in the province of Vercelli, in Piedmont, located in the Valsesia, the valley of the river Sesia, at the foot of the Monte Rosa massif. With just over 5,000 inhabitants, it is famous for the Sacro Monte of Varallo, a devotional complex of chapels with sculptures and frescoes recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the oldest of the Sacri Monti of the Alps. Its Alpine setting favours hiking, skiing and mountain sports.
