About the city

Vicenza is a city in the Veneto, capital of its province, located west of Venice, at the foot of the Berici Hills, in the Veneto plain. It is known as the 'city of Palladio': the great Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio endowed it with palaces, the basilica and the Teatro Olimpico, and its historic centre and its villas are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With almost 112,000 inhabitants, it is also an important centre of the gold and jewellery industry. Its setting favours cycling and hiking. Vicenza was recognised by ACES Europe as European City of Sport 2017, a title that places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
