About the city
Vieste is a coastal town in the province of Foggia, in Apulia, located at the eastern tip of the Gargano promontory, the 'spur' of the Italian boot that juts into the Adriatic. With just over 11,000 inhabitants, it is one of the great tourist destinations of the Apulian coast, famous for its beaches, its white cliffs and the Pizzomunno, a limestone monolith that has become its symbol. Its old town overlooks the sea from on high, within the Gargano National Park. The sea and nature are its great space for outdoor sport. Vieste was recognised by ACES Europe as European Town of Sport 2025, a title reserved for municipalities of fewer than 25,000 inhabitants, which places it within the broad Italian representation of the ACES network.
