Vijes

Vijes is a municipality in southern Valle del Cauca popularly known as 'Ciudad blanca' (White City) for the predominant colour of its traditional architecture. Located between the municipalities of Yumbo and Yotoco, it combines flat areas suitable for agriculture with the foothills of the Western Andes. Its economy is based on sugar cane, livestock and hillside crops, and community life revolves around cultural traditions and local festivities that keep alive the peaceful, family-oriented character of this small Valle town.
