The AWS 2023 continues on its way. Following its presentation at the summit of cities for sport and development led by UNESCO, held in León, the American Capital of Sport, ACES brought together numerous cities, municipal federations and other municipal networks for a first coordination meeting to manage the American Week of Sport 2023, which will take place from 23 to 30 September but extending to all sport-related events and activities held between 1 September and 15 October.
Under the ’ claim’ # ActívateAmérica, the aim of this initiative is to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity and the social and economic benefits that stem from sport.

ACES’s delegate in America, Gonzalo Cuesta, spoke very positively of the cities’ support. ’It is an initiative in which cities and municipalities are the leading players, and with their support and determination we will make the initiative take root, to reinforce and give visibility to the importance of sporting activity and the fundamental role that sport must have as an essential policy of public institutions’. He added that ’we are convinced that within a few years the American Week will establish itself as the great celebration of grassroots sport in America and as a link of union and integration among all the American countries, ensuring that sporting activity and its benefits form part of the agenda of public bodies’.
The initiative has the support of the sport ministers of America (CADE), of the OEA (inclusion and equity area) and of various municipal bodies.
