In a setting of enthusiasm and international projection, (ACES) officially presented the American Week of Sport 2024 during the D+D Cities Summit, held this week in Cali, Colombia. This important event will take place in Chorrillos, Lima, with its opening scheduled for 22 September 2024.

The American Week of Sport, which has the backing of the International Council of Sport (CID), the American Council of Sport (CADE), the Organization of American States (OEA), the Network of Cities and the Recreational Roads Network of the Americas, is set to become a key milestone in the promotion of physical activity and social cohesion across the entire continent.

Gonzalo Cuesta, general coordinator of ACES in the Americas, was in charge of presenting the 2023 results and outlining the ambitious plans for 2024. "Our aim is to surpass the participation figures reached last year, when more than 2 million citizens got physically active in 320 events held in various cities across the Americas", Cuesta highlighted.

In his address, Cuesta stressed the importance of collaboration between the various organisations and networks involved, which have been fundamental to the success of this initiative. “For 2024, we hope not only to increase citizen participation, but also to strengthen the ties between cities and communities, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle”, he concluded.

ACES's presentation at the D+D Cities Summit has generated great expectation among attendees and promises that the American Week of Sport 2024 will be an event of great significance for the region.
