Asunción, Paraguay. ACES América took part in the meeting of sport ministers held in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, as part of the Sport Summit, where it presented the main results of the American Week of Sport and the strategic lines of the 2026 edition.
The presentation was delivered by Adriana Sánchez Parés, president of ACES América, who set out before the region's institutional representatives the growth of this continental initiative, as well as its contribution to boosting sport, recreation and physical activity as tools for social development, health, inclusion and community cohesion.
During her address, Sánchez Parés presented the participation and reach figures of the American Week of Sport 2026, whose official opening took place in Zapopan, Mexico. The initiative mobilised more than 8 million people across 91 cities in 14 countries, through more than 4,500 events held throughout the region. Likewise, ACES América presented the main strategic lines of the American Week of Sport 2026, whose official opening will take place in Guayaquil, Ecuador, during the month of September. The new edition will seek to broaden the participation of cities and regions, reinforce institutional cooperation and enhance the impact of sport and physical activity on citizens.
Within the framework of the Summit, ACES América also highlighted its role in the region as an organisation dedicated to supporting, recognising and giving visibility to the work of cities, regions and institutions that are committed to sport as a driver of social transformation. In this context, the new W by ACES América strand was also highlighted, integrated within the ACES Woman initiative of ACES, aimed at strengthening women's leadership, visibility and participation in the sporting ecosystem.
During the stay in Asunción, ACES América held bilateral meetings with ministries and institutional representatives from the United States, Paraguay, Ecuador, Aruba and El Salvador, as well as with various entities from the region, with the aim of continuing to build alliances, expand the cooperation network and reinforce the positioning of the American Week of Sport as a continental platform for promoting sport and physical activity.
Adriana Sánchez Parés, president of ACES América, stressed:
“We are very pleased with the support received from the ministers and institutional representatives present in Asunción. The American Week of Sport is an initiative that grows every year thanks to the commitment of the cities, regions, governments and entities that believe in sport, recreation and physical activity as fundamental tools for improving people's quality of life.”
The president added:
For ACES América it is an honour to drive an initiative supported by institutions such as UNESCO, the Organization of American States, the Panamerican Paralympic Committee, the Red D+D and numerous entities from the region. Our role is to accompany, give visibility to and recognise the work carried out by cities and regions in favour of more active, inclusive and healthy communities.
With this presentation in Asunción, ACES América reinforces its commitment to regional cooperation and to promoting sport as a strategic axis for the development of the cities and territories of the American continent.
