American Week of Sport 2025 - A continent that activates as one

The American Week of Sport (SAD / American Week of Sport) closed its 2025 edition with a new historic record of citizen participation, consolidating itself as the largest multilateral initiative for the promotion of sport, health and physical activity in America.

Coordinated by ACES and institutionally backed by UNESCO, UN Tourism, the Organization of American States (OEA), CADE, CID, IPD, ICODER, the D + D Cities Network, Ciclovías Recreativas de Américas and dozens of sporting and municipal networks across the continent, the campaign once again demonstrated that when America activates, the whole world hears its heartbeat.

Official participation 2025

According to consolidated data (ACES América – Official report 2025) :

• 14 participating countries

• 91 cities (+49% compared with 2024)

• 4,546 events registered (+133% compared with 2024)

• 8,170,825 participants (+69% compared with 2024)

A historic inauguration in Zapopan, Mexico

The 2025 edition was officially inaugurated in Zapopan, Mexico, a city recognised for its leadership in sports policy, community activation and healthy public spaces.

The inaugural event brought together national and municipal authorities, athletes, community leaders, social organisations and thousands of citizens, symbolising the start of a week in which the whole of America began to move in unison.

Valle del Cauca: leading territory in participation

One of the most notable milestones of SAD 2025 was the scale of the participation of Valle del Cauca (Colombia), which managed to mobilise more than 39 cities in simultaneous activities, becoming one of the most active territories in all of America.

This achievement places Valle as a continental reference in inter-municipal coordination, community impact and the promotion of sport as public policy.

Innovation: the digital revolution of AWoS Activa

This year, ACES implemented the most advanced version of the AWoS Activa platform, which made it possible to:

• Unified registration of events by country, province and city

• Automatic statistics by year (2023, 2024 and 2025)

• Digital certifications for participating institutions

• Visualisation of rankings and activity in real time

• Integration with health devices

• Secure geolocation and demographic analysis

• Continental calendar of sporting events

The system has become the official tool for all future editions of the American Week of Sport.

Alliances that drive the movement: the D+D Network and Ciclovías Recreativas de América

The growth of the SAD has been possible thanks to strategic collaboration with major continental networks:

D+D Network (Sport + Development)

Present in numerous Latin American countries, it facilitated the mobilisation of cities, institutions, universities, community organisations and sports projects that reinforced the territorial impact.

Ciclovías Recreativas de América

With an additional participation of more than 4.1 million people in active mobility, the cycle paths consolidate as the largest community force for Sunday physical activation on the continent.

Their contribution demonstrates that the SAD transcends the calendar week, connecting with a permanent movement of healthier cities.

A continent that multiplies its impact

The 133% increase in events, 49% in active cities and 69% in citizen participation confirms that the SAD is reaching a level of structural, institutional and technological consolidation that guarantees its future expansion.

The AWoS Activa digital platform, used officially by all countries, enabled a unified, transparent and verifiable registration, strengthening impact measurement and multilevel coordination.

SAD 2025 demonstrates that America is building a unified sporting movement, backed by governments, municipalities, citizen networks and millions of people who believe in physical activity as a tool for health, wellbeing and social transformation.

ACES America thanks every country, city, institution, allied network and participant that made this historic edition possible.
