EXTRAORDINARY RESULTS OF THE AMERICAN WEEK OF SPORT 2024

The II American Week of Sport 2024 concluded with encouraging results for this initiative, promoted by ACES AMÉRICA, to become a leading benchmark on the continent, giving visibility to the importance of physical activity and sport.

AWoS, under the slogan "Actívate América", ran from 1 September to 15 October, during which 64 cities across the continent staged almost 2,000 events in 13 countries with close to 5 million people getting active.

As a preliminary activity, the II American Meeting of Sport was held in Santiago de Cali on 2 August, focusing on sporting practice in safe environments, and was attended by numerous organisations.

On 22 September, Chorrillos (Lima), American City of Sport 2025, together with the IPD, carried out the institutional opening with multiple sporting and cultural activities that gathered close to 20,000 people at Aguadulce beach and the Morro Solar.

Adriana Sánchez Parés, ACES delegate in the Americas, and its general coordinator in the Americas Gonzalo Cuesta expressed their satisfaction with the support and growth that AWoS enjoys each year, highlighting the indispensable effort and collaboration of the cities, municipalities and states that have thrown themselves into this great project, which is now a reality.

AWoS has the support of the OEA, the CID and CADE and the network of cities for sport and development (UNESCO), as well as the Recreational Roads Network of the Americas, along with municipal bodies.
